Lucky Dogs awaiting new homes ... Not All Dogs Are So Lucky

Trinity of Hope Dog Rescue often assists special-needs dogs. Not all of these dogs are featured on our web site as we often hand-pick the homes for our special-needs dogs. In 2003, Poppy was one such special-needs dog. Poppy was born with a congenital birth defect that rendered her blind in one eye. Prior to placing Poppy, she received the routine veterinary care that we provide. At the same time, the blind eye was removed (the procedure is called enucleation). When we placed Poppy, we did not request that we be reimbursed for the additional surgery she received. As of 2006, all of our Saint Bernards will also have a thyroid panel done. This adds approximately $120 to the "routine care" costs for each Saint Bernard. If you would like to make a contribution towards our outstanding vet bill, please send you contributions to:

FOSTER HOMES ARE ALWAYS IN SHORT SUPPLY. IF YOU ARE IN THE OTTAWA, ONTARIO AREA AND INTERESTED IN FOSTERING, PLEASE CONTACT INFO - TRINITY OF HOPE

Before completing our application, visit Petdogs-L to learn more about the responsibilities involved when sharing one's life with a dog. Then, come back and read Are You Right For a Rescued Dog, Cats and Adopted Dogs Compatibility and the definition of a Securely-fenced Exercise Area.

Trinity of Hope Dog Rescue requires that all our dogs are family companions. As such, we expect our dogs to be indoors when the family is not at home. We require a securely-fenced area. We do not adopt dogs to homes that do not have a fenced area suitable for the dog or are not willing to commit to installing such an area within the time specified during the trial adoption period.

Rex ~ ADOPTED
Rex is a 2 year old Saint Bernard that is a real character. He loves snuggles and huggles and wants up on your lap. He likes to sleep with you or beside you when possible.

His background is not as good as when I got him last September
he was a three legged boy and in starved condition. Since then I have worked with his diet and exercise routine since his arrival. I am proud to say that he is now a 4 legged boy and very strong.
He has gained about 60 lbs.

Rex does not take to young children or noisy little people. He will growl at them, so with that in mind we are looking for an older couple to spoil him. He generally needs to be leashed walked and will need an enclosed yard. He is great with adults and very loyal and can be very playful.

Rex is presently AKC registered but not showable. He has been neutered as well.

All In all he is a big huggable goof whom loves adults and food, of course not necessarily in that order.

We are looking for good forever homes for Rex and would love to hear from interested parties.

Fabio ~ ADOPTED

Click for more photos

Trinity of Hope's Gets His Walking Papers (Fabio) was born December 6, 2006. He is a mixed breed, medium-large sized dog, mostly black with long hair.

He is an owner surrender (they bought him from a pet store where he was sold as a "miniature Newfoundland." Listen up, folks, the CKC does not recognize "miniature Newfoundland" as a breed, you got scammed for $1500, you could've gotten a real Newfoundland for less then that, complete with CKC registration papers).

Notwithstanding the scam, Fabio is:

  • crate trained
  • house-broken
  • neutered
  • microchipped
  • up-to-date on shots
  • heartworm negative (on prevention--Interceptor)
  • Good with: kids (9 years of age and older, haven't tested him with younger kids),
  • dogs
  • cats
  • people with disabilities

Fabio, at 7 months, weighs, 55 pounds. Our best guess is he'll be a 70-80# dog. He is not a Newfoundland, he is, well, we don't know and we can't say. What we can say is he is friendly, accepting of new people and situations, and will make a lovely companion. A fenced yard and adoption fee to help off-set the veterinary care he received would be appreciated. As well, adopters will have to commit to attending obedience classes with him.

DESPERATELY SEEKING a family for Daphne

Trinity of Hope's Delfine Moonshine (Daphne) has been in foster care for over a year. Her foster would like her to move. We'd like her to move. Daphne is:

  • housebrken (has the bladder of a camel!)
  • spayed
  • microchipped
  • hypothryoid
  • heartworm negative (on Interceptor)
  • up-to-date on shots
  • obedience trained (1 level)
She is:
  • cat-friendly
  • kid and adult friendly (she is a woman's dog, she'll accept attention from a man until a woman walks into the room, then she's glued to the woman's side)
  • approximately 3-4 yrs. old
  • unregistered roughcoat Saint Bernard
  • Special-needs in that she requires tear gel to help with the dry eye
Miss Daphne does not want a home:
  • with other dogs (she is fine when she meets dogs outdoors, but would prefer to be an only dog)
Miss Daphne desperately wants a home of her own. Daphne was a Quebec puppy mill bitch. She is a very nice, sweet gal. She knows some basic commands, responds to her name, and loves having a fenced yard. Adoption donation appreciated.

DESPERATELY SEEKING a family for Eileen

Trinity of Hope's I Lean on You has been with us for almost 18 mos. Its time for this "I'm so full of myself" gal to have a family of her own. We'd like her to move to her family. Her foster would like her to go home as well. Eileen is:

  • housebrken
  • spayed
  • prophylactic gastro-plexy
  • microchipped
  • hypothryoid
  • heartworm negative (on Interceptor)
  • up-to-date on shots
  • obedience trained (1 level)
She is:
  • cats-friendly
  • kid and adult friendly
  • approximately 2 years old (June 30, 2005)
  • unregistered smoothcoat Saint Bernard
Eileen is good with the dogs in her foster family, however, is quite confident and bossy with other dogs. She is relentless with sr. dogs when she wants them to play with her. We'd prefer her to go to a home with a male Saint approximately the same age or to a home where she could be the Queen B (as in Bernard).

Eileen still has a lot of puppy in her. She will jump on you when excited, but she's getting better. She knows some basic commands, responds to her name, and loves having a fenced yard. She does not like being crated. Adoption donation appreciated.

Dineen ~ ADOPTED

Click for more photos

Trinity of Hope's Abide by the Law (Dineen) is named in honour of one the legal beagles who has been answering all of THDR's legal questions.

Dineen is an unregistered 11 mos. old (May 2, 2006) roughcoat Saint Bernard with classic markings. Dineen is spayed, up-to-date on shots, wormed, hw tested (negative), hypothyroid (on medication), microchipped, and has had a prophylactic gastro tack.

Dineen came to THDR as an owner-surrender. She was in a home with single mom and two boys, ages 8-11 yrs. of age. Dineen is currently in foster care with three neutered male dogs. She is learning how to be a dog with other dogs. When in a new environment, because she was never taken off property, Dineen is hesitant about flooring and stairs. Ideally, we are looking for a home that will let Dineen "be" until she is comfortable. When overwhelmed, Dineen assumes the "bearskin rug" pose. Her foster family is working on her leash training, sit, down, and other basic commands, and have a securely-fenced yard where she can "run in a big Saint circle." Dineen is crate trained and housebroken.

Arnie ~ ADOPTED

Click for more photos

Trinity of Hope's The Terminator (Arnie) is a n/m 130 lb. 2 yr. old rough (well, maybe smrough) coated Saint. Arnie turned two years old the day his owners surrendered him. He is utd on shots, hw negative, microchipped. We are awaiting his thyroid panel results.

Arnie knows a couple of basic commands (sit, down). His foster family is working on his crate training and leash walking. Arnie's favorite toy is his "pup tire." Arnie is socialized with dogs, cats and people. He's a very sweet boy who would make a great obedience dog for someone interested in a dog to train. He does require a fenced yard. An adoption donation would be appreciated.

ENSURE THAT ALL VET RECORDS ARE AVAILABLE. IF POSSIBLE, ENSURE THAT FUNDS ARE SET ASIDE FROM YOUR ESTATE IN THE EVENT THAT YOUR PET NEEDS TO BE SHIPPED TO THE BREEDER OR RESCUE GROUP OR BOARDED UNTIL ARRANGEMENTS CAN BE MADE. DON'T LET YOUR BELOVED PETS BOUNCE AS MANY OF OUR RESCUED DOGS DID.

A donation to offset the vet costs, the microchip implant and other expenses associated with the care of each rescue would be appreciated. Rescue neither sells nor buys dogs. Rescue places dogs in carefully screened adoptive homes.
